Sony Xperia Sola – Floating Touch magic

Sony Xperia Sola Sony Xperia Sola Floating Touch magic

Floating Touch technology (created in collaboration with Cypress Technologies) is grafted on a capacitive screen. The special feature is the ability to record events when the finger is not in direct contact (distance up to 20 mm). The information is sent to both the coordinates of the finger (classic), but also the distance, which potentially opens perspectives for applications.

Touch screens use both the mutual capacitance (multitouch) and the self capacitance (important clarification, but no multitouch) – you will find more details on this article. The Floating Touch combines both: the mutual capacitance is used to detect classical and finger multitouch. The self capacitance is used here to detect your finger over the surface, but does not offer multitouch in this case.
3.7 inch 854×480, dual-core processor 1 GHz for 9.9 mm thick, this smartphone will be placed between the Xperia U and Xperia P. Announced in Gingerbread 2.3 (4.0 for Ice Cream Sandwich in July), it will be sold at around € 329 towards the end of April.
