Denon Cocoon dock speakers : home and portable
Denon enters the market of dock speakers on the front door. The Hi-Fi equipment manufacturer inaugurated the range “Cocoon”, including two models focusing on versatility.

At a time when homes are equipped with multimedia equipment many and varied, Denon could not decently to stick to only solutions from Apple. His “Cocoon Home” and “Cocoon Portable” are well equipped with a dock iPod / iPhone compatible retractable AirPlay, but not only.
Equipped with a wired network connectivity or Wi-Fi, they are effectively autonomous. And remotely configured using an Android application or IOS, they can decode including “a large number of audio formats” from a computer or a NAS, without knowing how they exploit protocol (SMB or DLNA). It also allows you to preselect three web radios that will remain accessible without a smartphone, through the touch keys of the speaker or the supplied remote. They finally take charge of the Multi-Room.
Denon Portable Cocoon
As is often the target with “premium”, the manufacturer avoids the vulgar technical concepts. It will therefore be satisfied with fine words about their sound, one aspect that distinguishes the two models:
- Cocoon Home: two-way speakers, and loudness function “Denon sound of a great power AND high fidelity music reproduction”
- Cocoon Mobile: speakers Denon Dual Layer Cone and “Denon sound of a great power,” but no claim high fidelity
Finally, as the name suggests, this latest model is designed to be transported: it is home for this purpose a rechargeable battery giving 5 hours of battery life and features a reinforced grid making it impervious to water spray at sand and dust.
The speaker dock “Denon Home Cocoon” and “Cocoon Portable” will be sold at a suggested retail price of 700 euros.
